One of the most important things you’ll need to do in preparation for your move to One 51 Place is update your address. You should aim to do this at least a week before you move to avoid any hassles, like missed bills, in the midst of what may already be a stressful time. Start by notifying the post office, which can be done online. This is one of the most important places to update your address, as it will ensure any mail sent to your old address will be forwarded to your new address for a year.

In addition to the post office, here are some other places you’ll want to make sure you update with your new address:

• Your bank
• Credit card companies
• Your employer
• Utilities (electric, gas, etc.)
• Your phone, cable, and internet companies
• Any magazines or other subscriptions you have
• Doctors, dentists, and other individual service providers

Of course, you’ll also need to update the address on your drivers license. You can do this online or in person at the DMV. Both of these options require a $25 fee. To update your address online, you’ll simply need to enter your Florida driver license number, the last four digits of your Social Security Number (SSN), and your date of birth. In person, be sure to bring proof of your citizenship or legal presence (birth certificate, passport, or permanent resident card), proof of your SSN (Social Security Card, W-2 form, or letter of ineligibility), and two documents that provide proof of your Florida residency (utility bill, bank statement, etc.).
