Apple pie is a delicious dessert that can be a comforting dish to bring to get-togethers, pot lucks, or any other event. For some, there is nostalgia attached to this dessert, as they may have watched their grandmother bake one during the holidays. For most, it’s simply a yummy treat that will satisfy their sweet tooth.
To make homemade apple pie, here are the ingredients you’ll need:
• Refrigerated pie crusts, 2
• Apples, 6 medium
• Sugar, ¾ cup
• All-purpose flour, 2 tablespoons
• Ground cinnamon, ¾ teaspoon
• Salt, ¼ teaspoon
• Ground nutmeg, 1/8 teaspoon
• Lemon juice, 1 tablespoon
Preheat your oven at your Alachua, Florida, apartment to 425 degrees, then press the premade pie crust into a greased 9-inch pie plate. Next, peel the apples, chop them into ½-inch cubes, and place them in a bowl. Mix together the apples with the sugar, flour, cinnamon, salt, nutmeg, and lemon juice, and then pour this filling into the pie crust, making sure the apples are evenly distributed all around the pie. Top the pie with the other crust, wrapping the excess under the bottom crust and pressing the edges together to seal.
Then, place the pie in the oven and bake for 40 to 45 minutes, until the apples are tender and the crust is golden brown. Cool for up to two hours before serving.
