Have you ever tried making homemade tomato bisque at your apartment? It takes a bit more skill to make than most basic soup, but once you have all the steps down, itll be an easy meal to prepare when you want something comforting and delicious to eat.
Here are the ingredients you need to make tomato bisque at your apartment in Alachua, Florida:
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 cup diced onion
½ cup diced celery
3 cloves garlic, chopped
1 container (32 oz) chicken broth
1 container (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
½ teaspoon paprika
3 tablespoons uncooked jasmine rice
1 teaspoon white sugar
½ cup heavy whipping cream
2 tablespoons finely sliced fresh basil leaves
Salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper to taste
And, to prepare the soup, follow these steps:
Step 1 Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Then, stir in the onion, celery, and a pinch of salt.
Step 2 Once the onion is translucent, stir in the garlic and cook for about a minute.
Step 3 Pour in the chicken broth and add the tomatoes. Bring to a simmer, and then season the mixture with paprika, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
Step 4 Turn down the heat to low and stir in the rice. Simmer the mixture until the rice and veggies are tender (this typically takes 35 to 40 minutes). Once finished, add in the sugar.
Step 5 Use an immersion blender to mix the soup until its smooth. Whisk in a half cup of whipping cream. Then, if the soup is too thick, add in more broth. If its too thin, allow it to cook a little while longer, stirring often.
Step 6 Lastly, ladle the tomato bisque into bowls, top with basil, and enjoy!
