Alachua, Florida, is a beautiful place to live. The sun shines most days, and its gratifying to spend the day outside, basking in the sun. But while getting an appropriate amount of vitamin D from the sun is beneficial to maintaining a healthy immune system, too much sun exposure can cause sunburn, which can be a very painful and sometimes dangerous condition to deal with.
Below is a list of ways to protect yourself from the sun while relaxing around our Alachua, Florida, apartments:
Always wear sunscreen when outside. Apply it 30 minutes before you are to be in the sun, and make sure the sun protection level (SPF) is 30 or higher. Reapply every two hours.
Wear a wide-brimmed hat to protect your face and scalp.
If possible, avoid going into the sun from the hours of 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., as this is when the suns UV radiation is at its peak.
Wear clothes, cosmetics, sunglasses, and contact lenses that offer UV protection.
Stay away from tanning beds as much as possible.
Try to remain shaded when outdoors. While you should always wear sunscreen (even on an overcast day), sitting under an umbrella or other shaded covering is a good idea so you are not in direct sunlight.
Hopefully, these tips will be useful as you enjoy the beautiful outdoors around our apartments. And if you are not yet a resident of our community, but would like to learn more, contact us today or stop by our leasing office for a tour.
