Life keeps everybody busy and there are
always lots of items on our to-do lists,
but we all get bored once in a while.
There are a number of ways to spend your
time, and writing poetry is one of them.
In addition to filling up those spare
moments, writing poetry allows you to
create personal works of art that will
forever hold a place in your heart.
Whether you’re writing poetry inside
one of our apartments
in Alachua, Florida or you’ve
gone to the park to be inspired by nature’s
beauty, here are some tips to consider:
- Write down your thoughts, emotions,
what you see, what you hear, and even
what you smell.
- Try organizing similar thoughts and
see how they can work together to create
a piece.
- Don’t focus too much on making
you poetry rhyme. Instead, just write
what comes naturally and focus on how
your words fit together as a whole.
- If you’re feeling extra witty
on a given day, try your hand at writing
a funny poem.
- Though some forms of poetry such
as sonnets and limericks have defined
rules, poetry is supposed to be an expression
of your emotions and feelings, and you
can create it in whatever form works
best for you.
You never know where writing poetry can
take you. You may discover a hidden talent
and wind up being the next Shakespeare,
Robert Frost, or Shel Silverstein.
